Do you find getting up in the morning so difficult that it is painful? This might be cDo you find getting up in the morning so difficult that it is painful? This might be called laziness, but Dr. Kleitman has a new explanation. He has proved that everyone has a daily energy cycle. During the hours when you labour through your work you may say that you’re “hot”. That’s true. The time of day when you feel most energetic is when your cycle of body temperature is at its peak. For some people the peak comes during the forenoon. For others it comes in the afternoon or evening. No one has discovered why this is so, but it leads to such familiar monologues (自言自语) as: “Get up, John! You’ll be late for work again!”The possible explanation to the trouble is that John is at his temperature-and-energy peak in the evening. Much family quarrelling ends when husbands and wives realize what these energy cycles mean, and which cycle each member of the family has. You can’t change your energy cycle, but you can learn to make your life it better. Habit can help, Dr. Kleitman believes. Maybe you’re sleepy in the evening but feel you must stay up late anyway. Counteract (对抗) your cycle to some extent by habitually staying up later than you want to. If your energy is low in the morning but you have an important job to do early in the day, rise before your usual hour. This won’t change your cycle, but you’ll get up steam (鼓起干劲) and work better at your low point. Get off to a slow start which saves your energy. Get with a leisurely yawl and stretch. Sit on the edge of the bed a minute before putting your feet on the floor. Avoid the trouble some search for clean clothes by laying them out the night before. When ever possible, do routine work in the afternoon and save tasks requiring more energy or concentration for your sharper hours.1.If a person finds getting up early a problem, most probably _______.A、he is a lazy personB、he refuses to follow his own energy cycleC、he is at his peak in the afternoon or evening2.Which of the following may lead to family quarrels according to the passage_______.A、Unawareness of energy cycles.B、Familiar monologues.C、A change in a family member’s energy cycle.D、A change in a family member’s energy cycle.3.If one wants to work more efficiently at his low point in the morning, he should _____.A、change his energy cycleB、overcome his lazinessC、go to bed earlier4.You are advised to rise with a yawn and stretch because it will ______.A、help to keep your energy for the day’s workB、help you to control your temper early in the dayC、enable you to concentrate on your routine workD、keep your energy cycle under control all day5.Which of the following statements is NOT TRUE_______.A、Getting off to work with a minimum effort helps save one’s energy.B、Dr. Kleitman explains why people reach their peak at different hours of day.C、Habit helps a person adapt to his own energy cycle.D、Children have energy cycles, too.查看答案请关注【快跑搜题】微信公众号,发送题目即可获取第5题

“No man is an island,” wrote the poet John Donne several centuries ago. He was acknowledging one of our most distinctive characteristics: the fact that we are social animals whose behavior. and personalities are shaped by the groups to which we belong.Throughout life, most of our daily activities are performed in the company of others. Whether our purpose is working, playing, raising a family, learning, or simply relaxing, we usually pursue it in groups, even if the group is as small as two or three people. Out need for human contacts is not merely a practical one; it is a deep psychological need as well. If people are deprived of the company of others for prolonged periods, mental breakdown is the usual result. Even the Geneva Convention(日内瓦公约),an international agreement that regulates the treatment of prisoners of war, recognizes this need. It regards solitary(孤独的) imprisonment for more than thirty day as a cruel form. of torture(折磨).In its strictest sense, a group is a collection of people interacting together in an orderly way on the basis of shared expectations about one another&39;s behavior. As result of this interaction, members feel a common sense of “belonging.” They distinguish members from nonmembers and expect certain kinds of behavior. from outsiders.By “No man is an island,” John Donne means _____.A.no one can live on an island aloneB.a man is not surrounded by sea on all sidesC.a man and an island are irrelevantD.no one can live in isolation from other peopleThe fact that we work or even play in groups illustrates the point that ____.A.poeple are different from animalsB.Donne recognized the group to which he belongedC.human beings are social animalsD.human behavior and personalities are formed by others“Breakdown” as used in Line 6, Paragraph 2 most probably denotes ____.A.separationB.collapseC.analysisD.functionAccording to the passage, what is NOT a characteristic of group?A.There are at least two people in it.B.The members share some common grounds.C.The members work for one purpose.D.The members interact regularly with each other. This passage is mainly about _______.A.the importance of human contactsB.pattens of human behaviorC.the importance of human activitiesD.patterns of human society请帮忙给出每个问题的正确答案和分析,谢谢!查看答案请关注【快跑搜题】微信公众号,发送题目即可获取第8题

Early or Later Day CareThe British psychoanalyst John Bowlby maintains that separation froEarly or Later Day CareThe British psychoanalyst John Bowlby maintains that separation from the parents during the sensitive "attachment" period from birth to three may scar a childs personality and predispose to emotional problems in later life. Some people have drawn the conclusion from Bowlbys work that children should not be subjected to day care before the age of three because of the parental separation it entails, and many people do believe this. But there are also arguments against such a strong conclusion.Firstly, anthropologists point out that the insulated love affair between children and parents found in modem societies does not usually exist in traditional societies. For example, in some tribal societies, such as the Ngoni, (he father and mother of a child did not rear their infant alone -- far from it. Secondly, common sense tells us that day care would not be so widespread today if parents, care-takers found children had problems with it. Statistical studies of this kind have not yet been carried out, and even if they were, the results would be certain to be complicated and controversial. Thirdly, in the last decade there have been a number of careful American studies of children in day care, and they have uniformly reported that day care had a neutral or slightly positive effect on childrens development. But tests that have had to be used to measure this development are not widely enough accepted to settle the issue. But Bowlbys analysis raises the possibility that early day care has delayed effects. The possibility that such care might lead to, say, more mental illness or crime 15 or 20 years later can only be explored by the use of statistics. Whatever the long-term effects, parents sometimes find the immediate effects difficult to deal with. Children under three are likely to protest at leaving their parents and show unhappiness. At the age of three or three and a half almost all children find the transition to nursery easy, and this is undoubtedly why more and more parents make use of child care at this time. The matter, then, is far from clear-cut, though experience and available evidence indicate that early care is reasonable for infants.Which of the following statements would Bowlby support?A.Statistical studies should be carried out to assess the positive effect of day care for children at the age of three or older.B.Early day care can delay the occurrence of mental illness in children.C.The first three years of ones life is extremely important to the later development of personality.D.Children under three get used to the life at nursery schools more readily than children over three.查看答案请关注【快跑搜题】微信公众号,发送题目即可获取第9题
